Macbeth, Act 4, Scene 1. Macbeth is rude and arrogant and commanding with the Witches, addressing them as “hags.” This is in contrast to his fearful reaction when he first met them in Act 1, Scene 3. The imagery of darkness, signifying evil, is also used in this quote.
