Our general’s wife is now the general: may say so in this respect, for that he hath devoted and given up himself to the contemplation, mark, and denotement of her parts and graces.

– William Shakespeare

Othello, Act 2, Scene 3. Iago is at his manipulative best when he echoes Cassio’s earlier words about Desdemona’s control over her husband, when Cassio called her "Our great captain’s captain." Iago tells him that Othello is so under the spell of his wife’s love that Cassio can get her to intercede on his behalf and help restore his relationship with Othello. But Iago is just using Cassio and Desdemona for his own purposes.
