If she be black, and thereto have a wit,
She’ll find a white that shall her blackness fit.

– William Shakespeare

Othello, Act 2, Scene 1. Iago and Desdemona continue their banter about women who are intelligent and beautiful. Iago is responding to her question: "How if she be black and witty" – ugly and smart. He comes back with a clever pun, saying that such a woman would use her intelligence to find a "white" to suit her appearance – a pun on "wight." meaning man.
