What strange fish
Hath made his meal on thee?

– William Shakespeare

The Tempest, Act 2, Scene 1. Following the shipwreck, Alonso is worried about what has happened to his son Ferdinand. While some of the other castaways try to reassure him that Ferdinand came alive to land, Alonso is despairing and wonders what fish has made a meal of him. Since the audience knows that Ferdinald is indeed alive, this is an example of dramatic irony.
