O ho, O ho! would’t had been done!
Thou didst prevent me; I had peopled else
This isle with Calibans.

– William Shakespeare

The Tempest, Act 1, Scene 2. Caliban admits, you could say even boasts, that he once tries to rape Miranda. But far from showing any remorse or contrition, he tells her father Prospero that he wishes he had been able to complete the deed and populate the island with Calibans. In this passage Caliban lives up to his reputation as a monster.
