The Tempest, Act 5, Scene 1. Gonzalo wonders if the Duke of Milan was banished from his state so that his descendants may become the rulers of Naples. The wise old counselor sees the irony that in exiling Prospero, fate made it so that Prospero’s grandchildren will be kings of Naples, whose King Alonso set out to destroy him.
