All the infections that the sun sucks up
From bogs, fens, flats, on Prosper fall, and make him
By inch-meal a disease!
– William Shakespeare
The Tempest, Act 2, Scene 1. Caliban resents the fact that the island and its natural resourses belong to Prospero, he views this control as a disease. Cursing his master, he wishes that all the infections the sun sucks up from bogs, marshes and swamps would fall on Prospero so that inch by inch he becomes nothing more than a disease.
