The Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 18. Sairy Wilson makes this comment to Jim Casy after he says a silent prayer for her. It is foreshadowing of her death. While we don’t witness Sairy die in the story, it is implied. Too ill to make it across the desert, she requested Casy to pray with her before he and the Joads depart.
