A bee flew into the cab and buzzed in back of the windshield. The driver put out his hand and carefully drove the bee into an air stream that blew it out of the window.

The Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 2. While Tom Joad is hitching a ride to his parents home in a truck, the trucker carefully guides a bee out the window after it flies into the cab. The bee is symbolic of the times people find themselves in trouble and someone comes along to lend a helping hand.
