"All that lives is holy."
– John Steinbeck
The Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 13. This line sums up Jim Casy’s humanist philosphy. At first glance you might think it was borrowed from the Bible. But it is actually borrowed from The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by William Blake: "For everything that lives is holy." Casy speaks the line while praying over the body of Grampa Joad.
