The Grapes of Wrath, Chapter 7. The money-grabbing car dealer puts pressure on the customer to sign up for one of his rust buckets. He is being ironic when he says that he is giving away his shirt and is disgusted at the time the sale takes. It is more a case of the customer losing his shirt paying an exorbitant price for a jalopy, and us who are disgusted by the dealer.
