The Crucible, Act 3. Judge Danforth accuses Proctor of being in league with the Antichrist, after Mary Warren finally breaks and names John a witch who is working for the Devil. The court has descended into chaos at this point, with Danforth adding to the frenzied atmosphere. He shuts off Hale when he tries to intervene and bring some reason into the proceedings.
