– Arthur Miller
The Crucible, Act 1. Abigail lies with such ease as she continues to invent stories about Tituba being a witch. In the play Abby spends a deal of time falsely accusing others in order to keep herself out of trouble. Her claim that Tituba is involved with the forces of darkness sets the witchcraft mass hysteria and witch trials in motion.
