Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, Scene 5. Now that Romeo is banished from Verona, the Nurse feels that Juliet’s only option is to marry Paris. In an effort to console Juliet, she uses metaphors to compare Romeo to a dishcloth and Paris to an eagle. She is suggesting that the unremarkable Romeo cannot compare to the majestic and handsome Paris. It turns out to the wrong advice as Juliet disagrees and signals a rupture in the previously close relationship between her and her Nurse and trusted confidante.
