LEAR: So young, and so untender?
CORDELIA: So young, my lord, and true.

– William Shakespeare

King Lear, Act 1, Scene 1. Lear unjustly accuses Cordelia of being young and unloving. She counters by saying young and honest. Lear cannot see Cordelia’s qualities and virtue, and is unable to distinguish Cordelia’s true love from her sisters’ false expressions of affection.
