King Lear, Act 5, Scene 2. Edgar says this when a despairing Gloucester pleads that he cannot go on and this is a good place to die. At this point Lear and Cordelia have been taken prisoner. Edgar tells Gloucester that you cannot choose the time of our death, any more than our time of birth. It will happen when the time is right.
