Macbeth, Act 1, Scene 2. King of Scotland Duncan asks Malcolm about the wounded Captain of the army. The Captain was injured while helping Duncan’s son Malcolm escape capture in the battle between Scotland and Norway. Blood is an important symbol in the play, the word appearing over forty times in the play. In this instance it stands for the honor and bravery of the Captain.
