look into the seeds of time - Banquo to the Witches

If you can look into the seeds of time,
And say which grain will grow and which will not.

– William Shakespeare

Macbeth, Act 1, Scene 3. After the Witches predict a future that seems filled with greatness for Macbeth, Banquo asks them to tell him his future. The metaphor of examining a group of seeds and predicting which will grow and which will not is used here by Shakespeare.
