Macbeth, Act 4, Scene 3. Malcolm tells a speechless Macduff that he should give voice to his pain over the slaughter of his family. Unspoken grief leads to a broken heart, he warns. He speaks this as Macduff pulls his hat down over his brows, apparently to hide his tears. Grief is personified in this passage.
