I would the fool were married to her grave!

– William Shakespeare

Romeo and Juliet, Act 3, Scene 5. Lady Capulet is angry that Juliet refuses to marry Paris in her father’s arranged match. Personifying death, she wishes her daughter were dead for not wanting to marry Paris and calls her a fool. Her comment sadly foreshadows what will ultimately happen to Juliet, who will soon end up being "married to her grave."
