Dost thou love me? I know thou wilt say "Ay,"
And I will take thy word: yet if thou swear’st,
Thou mayst prove false.

– William Shakespeare

Romeo and Juliet, Act 2, Scene 2. Juliet asks Romeo out straight if he loves her, and knowing what his answer will be suggests that if he swears an oath he may still prove unfaithful. Romeo has already used the word "love" eight times in this scene.
