Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 45. Caroline Bingley tries to embarrass Elizabeth in front of Mr. Darcy when Elizabeth visits his ancestral home of Pemberley. In a spiteful comment Caroline brings up Elizabeth’s connection with George Wickham and her younger sisters flirtations with him. Caroline is not happy to see Elizabeth in Pemberley because she sees her as a rival for Darcy’s affections.
