OTHELLO: She turn’d to folly, and she was a whore.
EMILIA: Thou dost belie her, and thou art a devil.

– William Shakespeare

Othello, Act 5, Scene 2. Othello tries to justify his killing of Desdemona by branding her a "whore." Emilia defies the patriarchy and shows her fearlessness as she leaps to Desdemona’s defense. Standing up to Desdemona’s murderer, she accuses Othello of falsely representing his wife and metaphorically compares him to a devil.
