Othello, Act 4, Scene 1. Having shown a strong and deep love for Desdemona in the early part of the play, Othello’s relationship with his wife has grown toxic. Driven by profound jealousy and rage, he threatens to cut her up into pieces. In this outburst of madness and hate, he is a puppet controlled by Iago, who has deceived him into believing that an unfaithful Desdemona has betrayed him.
