Othello, Act 3, Scene 4. Believing that Desdemona has been unfaithful, Othello commands her to give him his handkerchief. For him the handkerchief he gave to his wife is a symbol of their love and her fidelity. But this seemingly harmless and trifling object has become the catalyst that increases the turmoil within their marital relationship.
