A liberal hand: the hearts of old gave hands;
But our new heraldry is hands, not hearts.

– William Shakespeare

Othello, Act 3, Scene 4. Using the metaphors of hearts and hands, Othello tells Desdemona that in the olden days the giving of hands as in marriage was a sign of love. But now people give their hands to each other without the heart. He is is talking about lust and the absense of love. He is also hinting that Desdemona may be giving her hand away in lust.
