Othello, Act 3, Scene 3. In an interesting double simile, Othello compares the tarnishing of Desdemona’s reputation to the face of Diana, Greek goddess of the moon and chastity, becoming as black as his own. Othello is suffering the agonies of jealousy after Iago’s insinuations about his wife’s infidelity.
