O treason of the blood!
Fathers, from hence trust not your daughters’ minds
By what you see them act.

– William Shakespeare

Othello, Act 1, Scene 1. Brabantio believes that Desdemona has betrayed him and tainted the family bloodline by running off to marry the black Othello. In his pun on blood, he is speaking about she betrayed her duty to her family and also how her passions rebelled against reason. Shocked and in disbelief, he issues a warning to fathers not to trust their daughters.
