I’ll intermingle every thing he does
With Cassio’s suit: therefore be merry, Cassio;
For thy solicitor shall rather die
Than give thy cause away.
– William Shakespeare
Othello, Act 3, Scene 3. Desdemona makes a fatal decision, vowing to bring Cassio’s case to her husband’s attention at every opportunity. There is tragic irony and foreshadowing as she declares she would rather die than break her promise to Cassio to be his solicitor. For she does end up sacrificing her life.
