Good night, honest Iago.

– William Shakespeare

Othello, Act 2, Scene 3. Cassio’s parting words to Iago are heavy with irony, since Iago is a very dishonest person. Iago has encouraged Cassio to make a special plea to Desdemona to regain his position as Othello’s lieutenant. But Cassio doesn’t know that he is being used as part of Iago’s grand plan to ruin Othello. Dramatic irony is used extensively throughout this scene.
