Othello, Act 2, Scene 1. After Roderigo claims that Cassio holding Desdemona’s hand was simply a courtesy, Iago twists Cassio’s innocent gesture into something immoral and sexual. He attempts to persuade Roderigo that Cassio has lecherous designs on Desdemona and brands him a villain, which is ironic given Iago’s confessions of his own villainy.
