So I lose none
In seeking to augment it, but still keep
My bosom franchised and allegiance clear,
I shall be counsell’d.

– William Shakespeare

Macbeth, Act 2, Scene 1. Banquo shows himself to be a man of honor who is loyal to King Duncan, when asked by Macbeth if he will “cleave to my consent.” Banquo says that he will listen to Macbeth’s counsel, but only as long as it doesn’t mean doing anything dishonorable. He is not willing to lose his honor in pursuit of power.
