I am in this earthly world; where to do harm
Is often laudable, to do good sometime
Accounted dangerous folly.
– William Shakespeare
Macbeth, Act 4, Scene 2. Lady Macduff says that she lives in a world where to do evil is often praised, and doing good can sometimes be a dangerous mistake. She speaks this to a servant who warns her to flee the danger that is coming. She refuses and stands her ground, a fatal decision for her and her boy.
