To leave his wife, to leave his babes,
His mansion and his titles in a place
From whence himself does fly? He loves us not;
He wants the natural touch.

– William Shakespeare

Macbeth, Act 4, Scene 2. Lady Macduff feels betrayed by her husband because he left his family to go to England. She cannot understand how he could leave his wife and children unprotected. She berates him of not loving his family and lacking the “natural touch” of kindness.
