Macbeth, Act 2, Scene 3. Macduff tells Lady Macbeth that he cannot tell her about King Duncan’s murder, because it it too horrible a thing for a woman to hear. This is particularly ironic, since Lady Macbeth was a co-conspirator with her husband in the murder.
