O my follies! Then Edgar was abused.
Kind gods, forgive me that, and prosper him.

– William Shakespeare

King Lear, Act 3, Scene 7. Gloucester discovers too late that Edmund deceived and betrayed him and that he Gloucester mistreated Edgar. He calls on the gods to forgive him and hopes that his abused son Edgar is well. There is great irony here in the fact that having being blinded by Cornwall, Gloucester now sees the truth about his family.
