King Lear, Act 3, Scene 5. Cornwall to Edmund. Edmund wins Cornwall’s loyalty for betraying his father. Cornwall tells him that he trusts him and hopes Edmund will find him a better father than Gloucester ever was. Edmund has just given Cornwall a letter proving that Gloucester was working for France.
