Jane Eyre, Chapter 4. Mr. Brocklehurst warns young Jane that people who are liars will end up being punished in the fires of hell. It is ironic that Brocklehurst, who makes out that he is a religious man, likes to use his religious beliefs to scare the living daylights out of childen.
