Emma, Chapter 54. Emma tells Frank that they are alike in that their journeys are similar. They are both marrying someone considered a better person than they are. Emma is referring to Mr. Knightley’s honesty and maturity and sense of responsibility, and Jane Fairfax’s kindness and morally upright character. By contrast Emma and Frank show a level of immaturity and manipulativeness that gets them into trouble.
