Emma, Chapter 42. When Mrs. Elton tries to take over the planning of a trip to Mr. Knightley’s estate, he asserts his authority and politely but firmly puts her in her place. When he speaks of a future Mrs. Knightley, there is foreshadowing here, as he admits to his potential for love and marriage.
