To protect Mina from a vampire attack on the way to Castle Dracula, Van Helsing draws a ring around where Mina sits by the campfire and sprinkles pieces of Holy Communion wafers along the circle. When Dracula’s three Brides visit, they cannot pass the "Holy circle" to get at Mina.
