Dracula, Chapter 21. Dr. Seward and Van Helsing rush into Renfield’s room in the lunatic asylum to discover him on the brink of death, his back broken and face smashed in. Angry that the Count had been draining the life’s blood out of Mina, Renfield had attacked Dracula, who flung him across the room fatally injuring him.
