– Geoffrey Chaucer
The Canterbury Tales, The Clerk’s Tale. God works in mysterious ways and can sometimes send his grace into a little ox’s stall – this is a reference to the Nativity story and birth of Christ. The grace that is sent to the poorest man in the village Janicula is his daughter Griselda.
