Now that you’ve touched them I’ll burn them!

– Tennessee Williams

A Streetcar Named Desire, Scene 2. When Stanley grabs Blanche’s love letters from her dead husband and attempts to read them, thinking they are legal papers, Blanche snatches them. She feels she will have to burn them because they have been contaminated. Her erratic behavior speaks to her mental instability, especially concerning her dead husband, which will see her losing her mind completely.
