A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Act 3, Scene 1. The tinker Tom Snout worries that the ladies in the audience will be afraid of the lion because they will think it is real. The absurdity of his question adds humor to the scene, since there is no way anyone will mistake a man dressed as a lion for the real thing.
