"Our opponent is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." -- Sarah Palin, accusing Barack Obama of associating with Bill Ayers, founder of Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in early 1970s.

Singing legend Bob Dylan wows critics and fans with first new album in five years

"I been sitting down studying the art of love
I think it will fit me like a glove."

So sings singer/songwriter legend Bob Dylan in his 31st and latest very impressive studio album 'Modern Times.'

The lines are from the opening song 'Thunder on the Mountain', a rollicking blues number, which goes on to say:
"Feel like my soul is beginning to expand
Look into my heart and you will sort of understand
You brought me here, now you're trying to run me away
The writing's on the wall, come read it, come see what it say."

The album is Dylan's first new one in five years and contains 10 songs. As well as featuring love laments it is littered with references to world events like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.

A rave review by 'Rolling Stone' said of 'Modern Times': "This music is relaxed; it has nothing to prove. It is music of accumulated knowledge, it knows every move, anticipates every step before you take it."

Fans love the new release from the 65-year-old singer, who became the oldest living person to launch a disc at number in the US and UK. It also opened at number one in Australia, Norway, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Denmark and Switzerland.

Not only does Dylan show no sign of slowing down or going into retirement but he has been enjoying a creative renaissance in the last few years.

The album caps off a big couple of years which included the release of his memoirs, 'Chronicles: Vol 1,' the Martin Scorsese documentary 'No Direction Home' and his job as a radio DJ.

"You think I'm over the hill, you think I'm past my prime?" Dylan asks on his new album, and then replies defiantly: "Let me see what you got, we can have a whoppin' good time."

In a 40-year career the singing/songwriting legend has released 44 albums and written over 500 songs. He was listed as one of 'TIME' Magazine's 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
