"Your company is now bankrupt, our economy is now in a state of crisis, but you get to keep $480 million. I have a very basic question for you: Is this fair?" -- Henry Waxman, chairman of US House Oversight Committee, questioning Lehman Brothers CEO Richard Fuld over bank's collapse.

"Our opponent is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country." -- Sarah Palin, accusing Barack Obama of associating with Bill Ayers, founder of Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in early 1970s.

Queen Elizabeth not amused by antics of 'prima donna' soccer players

Britain's Queen Elizabeth says she is not amused by "prima donna" soccer players.

Her majesty's comments came at a recent honorary event and shocked some fans of the beautiful game.

The 80-year-old monarch was knighting FA Premier League chairman Sir David Richards at Buckingham Palace when she made her remarks.

"Football's a difficult business, and aren't they prima donnas?" she proclaimed.
To which Richards replied: "Yes, Ma'am. Some of them are."

Then she said to Sir David: 'But it's a wonderful game."

The Queen was apparently referring to the much criticized behaviour of professional players who dive and feign injury in an attempt to win free kicks and penalties and get opposing players sent off.

"She obviously watches the television," Richards told reporters. "I think she meant when they fall over on the floor and that they're good actors."

The Queen also knighted Welsh fashion designer Julien Macdonald at the ceremony, which recognized people who achieved excellence in their field.

She chatted to Macdonald - who has worked with Chanel and Givenchy - about Audrey Hepburn's little black dress.

Celebrity chef Gary Rhodes was also honored with an Order of the British Empire. Rhodes reminded the Queen that he had once served vegetables to her husband Prince Philip and son Prince Charles, while on a catering course.

The Queen said "Oh goodness - you've certainly moved on and come a long way."
